Call for showcase submissions – The Night With…Festival 2027
The Night With… is excited to announce a call for three showcase slots at our second festival on the 27th and 28th February 2027 in the Engine Works, Glasgow. We are eager to spotlight the talents of student and emerging performers and ensembles who are engaging with contemporary classical, experimental, and electro-acoustic music in the context of the wider festival and industry focused networking events.
We invite submissions for performance slots lasting a maximum of 45 minutes, accommodating groups of up to 4 performers (solos, duos, trios and quartets are all accepted). There are no strict thematic restrictions for either the individual slots or the overall festival; however, we do stipulate that the music presented should broadly align with the realm of contemporary classical, sound art, and electroacoustic music, including the adjacent experimental and cross genre territories.
Proposals can involve established ensembles or impromptu groups assembled exclusively for this event. This also encompasses compositions written/co-written by the performer(s). A four channel PA system and sound team will be available along with piano, harpsichord, and various tuned and un-tuned percussion. If you want to include percussion, get in touch to clarify we will have the instrument(s) already.
Ensembles will have a one hour rehearsal on the day of the concert and 30 minute sound check immediately before their performance slot.
Proposal submissions should include the following components:
- A concise program outline or description (up to 200 words)
- Performer(s) biography (up to 200 words)
- Supplementary text or links, such as composer biographies or programme notes (up to 200 words)
- List of instrumentation
- Technical specifications for amplification/electronics/tape playback if applicable
- Up to two recordings featuring the performer(s) (streaming links preferred)
- Up to two recordings of works intended for performance (streaming links preferred)
All selected performers will receive a fee of £220 per person plus reasonable travel expenses.
Selected performers will have a mentoring session with Matthew around shaping their proposal for the festival context.
Proposals should be submitted here by 8th January
