Emily Thorner

Now under management by HOST TALENT GROUP, international “ultra-soprano” (Second Inversion, WA, USA) and “new music rising star” (The Stranger, WA, USA) Emily Thorner is a specialist in high repertoire with an upper extension to an A6 and is comfortable in the fearless vocal extremes in modern operas, contemporary chamber ensembles, orchestras, and film. Known for her command of stratospheric high notes as one of the highest sopranos worldwide, she was invited to relocate to London on a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa, a winner of the NYIOPS Anon Auditions in 2020, and a finalist for the ground breaking role of Mollie in “Animal Farm” by Alexander Raskatov. Recent engagements include performances at Muziekgebouw and TivoliVredenberg as the featured soloist with Asko|Schönberg, the leading new music ensemble of the Netherlands and a triple new music premiere starring as 3 leading ladies in one evening at the Téte à Tête Festival in England. Her tour of STATE OF BEING featuring all world premieres (some of which are her own compositions) had the first premiere in North Carolina, USA in 2022, and will go to California at UC Davis in 2024 with her mission to bring healing and transformation through music to the world.

Frequently chosen for world premieres, she was the Soprano Soloist for the modern opera Hotel Paradiso under Clement Power (Italy) by Benedict Mason alongside opera star Richard Wiegold. She gave the world premiere of “Crossing Songs” by Laura Shipsey written for her voice in the Aldeburgh Festival June 2022, and starred as the Queen in The Last Party on Earth by Edward Lambert which was adapted into film and written for her voice. Previous performances have included Britten Pears Young Artist Festival under Jessica Cottis (England), the Ruhtriennale Festival (Germany), Donaueschingen Festival (Germany), Impuls (Austria), Bang on a Can Festival (USA), Splice Festival (USA), and the Hans Zimmer International Tour (USA). Further operatic performances have include Eurydice in Orphée aux enfers by Offenbach, The Miller in Rumpelstiltskin at Opera America, Amy in Little Women by Mark Adamo, Sisa in Noli Me Tangere, and many others. She has additionally been a soloist with some of the top new music ensembles such as Chroma Ensemble (UK), Kin of the Moon (USA), HUB new music, Guerilla Opera, Boston Musica Viva, Sound Icon and Sound Energy.
