Role: Assistant Producer
Contract: Freelance
Time commitment: average of 1.5 days per week (12 hours). Variable and flexible throughout the year based on activity. Total budget of 78 days/year. This may increase with additional funding.
Rate: £20/hour (£160 per day)
Location: Hybrid – remote working with in-person attendance at rehearsals, concerts, site visits, and recording sessions as required. Occasional overnights.

About The Night With…
The Night With… is a contemporary classical music organisation and record label based in Scotland, presenting concerts, recordings, and development programmes for artists working across classical and experimental music. We present work in informal spaces and prioritise close listening, collaboration, and artist-led practice and development.
Purpose of the role
To act as the operational backbone of The Night With…, supporting the CEO & Artistic Director in the planning and delivery of concerts, tours, recordings, and funded projects through clear, reliable administration and production coordination.
This role focuses on delivery and organisation, not artistic decision-making and will work very closely with Matthew Whiteside.
Key responsibilities
Operations & administration
- Coordinate board and team meetings, including scheduling and taking minutes
- Track actions, deadlines, and follow-ups
- Prepare artist and ensemble contracts using provided templates and manage signature processes
- Occasional requirement to represent The Night With… at events and conferences
Production & logistics
- Coordinate tour and concert logistics, including:
- Scheduling
- Travel and accommodation
- Rehearsal and performance venues
- Organise and attend site visits to assess venue suitability
- Attend rehearsals and concerts to support smooth delivery and artist care
- Assist on concert days as required
- Occasional overnight stays
- Drive hire van during tours to transport artists and / or tech
Projects & programmes
- Administrative and logistical support for:
- Composer Development Scheme
- Sound Engineer Training Scheme
- Support early-stage planning, coordination, and delivery for TNW Festival 2027
Label support (TNW Music)
- Attend and assist at recording sessions where required
- Take score and session notes where required
- Manage recording agreement forms
- Book recording venues and coordinate session logistics
Scope & boundaries
- Artistic direction, programming, and final decision-making remain with the CEO & Artistic Director
- Budget approval, negotiations, and external partnerships are handled at senior level
- This role coordinates and delivers agreed plans
- This role assists the CEO & Artistic Director in any relevant areas
Skills & experience
Essential
- Experience in arts administration, production, or project coordination
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator (both written and verbal) with artists, venues, and partners
- Calm, practical, and reliable under pressure
- Experience in live music
- Scotland based
- Interest in classical music
Desirable
- Experience in classical music
- Understanding of recording rights and administration
- Score Reading
- Full UK Driving licence
- Experience using Slack and Google Workspace
